Mistake #1 – Underestimating Yourself
We’ve all heard it before: “Do what you like and what you are good at.”
Sounds simple, right?
Yet, the problem is that society sets incredibly high standards. It’s easy to feel like if you’re not scientists, engineers, stars or geniuses, then you’re not good at anything.
However, every single one of us has gained, through repeated experience, a set of skills or a specific knowledge that someone else does not have and would gladly pay for.
It can be the simplest thing like analytical thinking, managing groups (an ability that you surely developed from dealing with the kids) or organizational skills.
And, to make the money you want, you don’t need to be a subject matter expert…
You just need to have a willingness to share your knowledge with others.
Mistake #2: Trying to Reinvent the Wheel
Ambition is a good thing. It makes you look for new ideas and new solutions.
Sometimes, ambition can become an obstacle.
Many people ambitiously try to reinvent the wheel by thinking they should come up with a new idea or a different kind of business to start.
Thing is, they’re only making things harder on themselves!
When the going gets tough, they then get caught up thinking that if they just get a little more time or a little more money, everything will work out.
Few thoughts are more deceptive than this one.
The truth is, most super-rich people that are highly successful did not reinvent the wheel.
Instead, they followed a proven business model that worked for someone else, and improved on it from there.
